We start our walk in February from the car park at Queen's View. To begin with it is very steep
map

Soon we have a view down to the carpark and across to the Campsies

To the North we can see Loch Lomond and the hills surrounding it...

...particularly Ben Lomond

To the East, Dumgoyne (to the left) juts out from the Campsies

At the top of the slope, we climb a stile

The path continues in shadow on the north side of the hill for a while, but then we climb up into the sunshine

At the summit is a cairn. The highest hills to the north have a touch of snow, but not as much as usual for this time of year
map

The weather looks bad to the north and Ben Lomond is blotted out, so we won't go much further

From the cairn, a track leads down to the Whangie itself

Soon we come to the first rocky outcrops

The Whangie consists of a number of rocky flakes which are very popular with rock climbers
map

Between the flakes are narrow clefts

The weather in the distance is worsening all the time and a shower is passing by

Ben Lomond is now clear, but we'd still better hurry back to the car park
