We start our walk from the car park at Braeval, near Aberfoyle. It is February. The weather is rather dull, but at least it is dry and mild
| ||
|
Soon the track divides, and we fork right
| ||
|
11:10am Fred particularly likes collecting rotifers from this small pool. Once we came here in the snow and I did a painting of it
| He stops to take a sample | ||
| From here the path rises and enters the forest | ||
|
We pass through the forestry, cross a ford and come to a stile
| ||
| Fred climbs over the stile | ||
| Looking back over the stile to the forestry | ||
11:40am Soon we come to another ford
| |||
|
12:00 Another stile has to be climbed, and then we are in the open
| ||
|
12:10pm Ahead and to the right we see a group of trees where we often have our picnic
| At the top of the next hill I found some woodcock feathers | ||
|
12:45 Now we see the loch beyond
|
We arrive at the loch
| ||
| Fred collects some more samples | ||
|
He strains the samples before emptying them into jars
|
1:15pm From the nearby viewpoint there is a magnificent view to Ben Ledi
| Fred collects some more samples at the far end of the loch... | ||
|
near a small boat house Now we have to walk all the way back again |
