
| This shieldbug was sitting on a raspberry leaf. When I went a bit too close he crawled onto my arm, onto the sleeve of my T-shirt and round to the back of my neck. I had to take the T-shirt off to find him again, but he survived the adventure and I returned him to the raspberries. |

Orange-tip butterflies are frequent visitors to our garden. They like the cuckooflowers, also known as lady's smock, that grow in our lawn. This is a female, so lacks the orange tips. |

| I once saw one of these small beetles with a frog orchid pollinium attached, but I have never seen them pollinate any of the orchids in our garden. |
Hoverflies are one of the insects most frequently seen on the spotted orchids. This one was resting for a few minutes on the side of one of our alpine tubs. |
