Ice spikes 4th February 2009

The larger ice spike formed in an unusually large tray (520x520mm) in water about 40mm deep. It was 38mm in vertical height, though the length from the right side of the base (as seen in the 1st picture) to the tip of the spike was 55mm.

The smaller spike formed in a flooded plant pot and was 30mm in height. To the right are 3 more potential spikes.
