*We found a lesser black-backed gull in our garden with both legs broken. Fred has seen it the day before with one broken leg. We took it to a rescue centre, but unfortunately it was not possible to save it and it had to be put down. This was not a bird which had visited us before, as one of the legs had been broken for some time and we had not seen one with a broken leg before.
**Fred saw a cat which had caught a blackbird, but he was able to rescue the blackbird and it survived.
***A juvenile magpie was lying in a box of corn. It had probably been attacked by jackdaws, and it subsequently died.
